How to plan the perfect group holiday to Fiji

Fiji is the perfect destination to enjoy a group family holiday. Whether it’s to celebrate a family milestone or just to spend time together, you’re almost spoilt for choice when it comes the range of resorts that will keep all members of the family happy.

There are many benefits in choosing Fiji for a family getaway but top of the list is it’s close proximity to Australia and the fact it is a determined a safe destination for travellers of all ages.

We have been organising group holidays to Fiji for over 20 years and in our experience, the most common pre-requisites to consider when planning a Fiji family holiday include:

Budget

When planning group holidays it’s important to be mindful that not everyone may have the same allocated budget for accommodation. With this in mind, large resorts like the Sofitel, InterContinental and Outrigger offer a broader range of accommodation pricing options than smaller resorts.

 Accommodation choices

Not everyone in a group travelling together ever have the exact same accommodation requirements. Young families will have very different needs to the mature matriarchs of the family.

An increasingly popular option we recommend for family groups are villa rentals. Some resorts now feature 1, 2 and 3 bedroom villas complete with kitchenettes, separate living areas, private pools and butler service (if required).  We booked 4 villas at the Hilton for a family group which was like their own private min-resort within the main resort complete with large private pool. Full time, live-in babysitting is also an option.

Keeping the kids busy

When travelling with kids, particularly large groups of kids, we recommend resorts that offer excellent Kid’s Club and babysitting services.  This gives parents the confidence that the children are safe (and being kept busy) if the adults choose to enjoy time together. In-resort activities

One of the reasons why Fiji is perfect for family group holidays is that most resorts have everything you could possible need conveniently contained within the grounds.  Diving, swimming, snorkeling, bars, restaurants, tennis courts, volleyball, shopping, gyms, beauty facilities, yoga, water aerobics… the list goes on. Some resorts offer more activities than others so, depending on the requirements of the group, we know what resorts will keep everyone happy based on the ages of the travelers.

Restaurants and bars

Having a choice of restaurants and eateries is paramount when travelling in a group. Typically larger resorts are better in this respect as they often have 3 or 4 restaurants onsite, each offering a choice of delicious, fresh cuisine.
