Fiji Resort Review : Nanuku Resort Fiji

Fiji luxury resort reviews.

The next stop on our November 2017 team visit to Fiji was the five-star Nanuku Resort Fiji. But before leaving the islands and heading back to the mainland, we were taken by boat from Malolo Island Resort to Likuliku Lagoon Resort for breakfast (we can recommend the crab omelette).  Likuliku is stunning!  This luxury, five star resort is a must for anyone seeking an adults-only escape to celebrate a special occasion or just for some peaceful time out. Of course, the over water bures are spectacular but so too are the garden and beachfront pool bures.

Likuliku Lagoon Resort is just as spectacular in real life.

We left the islands and were transferred to Nanuku Resort Fiji via seaplane.  Our pilot took us on a spectacular scenic adventure down the coast – passing over the famous judging tower at Cloudbreak (see photo below), right down the Coral Coast.   From the air we all tried to name as many resorts as we could.  One of the most spectacular was Royal Davui. This little drop in the ocean, surrounded by the most stunning turquoise water, looked surreal and gave us a true perspective as to how unique and special Royal Davui’s location is.

Nanuku Resort Fiji

5 star fiji resort

A stay at Nanuku Resort Fiji is about more than just a beach holiday.  Located close to Pacific Harbour, the adventure capital of Fiji and set along three kilometres of beachfront land, this resort is about luxury, culture and adventure!

As our seaplane landed, we were greeted by a huge “Welcome Fiji Island Holidays” banner and the smiling faces of our resort staff friends.   While most guests may not be greeted with a huge banner, each arrival is always a cultural experience paramount to that of a Village Chief or person of great importance. Every guest is greeted with ceremonial drums and the blowing of the Davui shell.   As we were guided through the main area of the resort to the sounds of the Lailai drum, we knew we were being welcomed into a wonderful place.

Grand Pool Residence – outdoor area and pool

The Grand Pool Residence

We stayed in the four bedroom Grand Pool Residence.  This villa – or more so, group of villas – is the perfect option for an extended family getaway or group holiday.

The main villa comfortably accommodates two adults and children. The two separate duplex villas accommodate a further two adults and two children each.  And there is a spa suite for another couple (grandparents perhaps?).  The configuration works extremely well for families and friends traveling together with separate sleeping quarters and all the wonderful luxuries needed.

There is a fully stocked kitchen (should you feel the need to cook) and, as would be expected, a large, private pool.

So much to do…

We were treated to a traditional Fijian cooking class.  Freshly caught water prawns and a delicious mix of ground coriander, tomato and chili were placed in hollowed out bamboo cylinders and then onto the fire. After just the right amount of time, the bamboo was removed and split open to reveal the most incredible tasting prawns. Our teacher, Josh, explained this is how Fijians cook in the village, or when travelling on long hikes gathering food.  It’s cultural food “on the road”.  We were then shown how to make kokoda, a traditional Fijian raw fish salad where lemon juice “cooks” the fish. Delicious and very healthy.

Nanuku’s convenient location offers guests a smorgasbord of opportunities for exploration and adventure:

  • Take a quick boat ride to the resort’s private island for a day trip or camp overnight;
  • Hire a jet ski and explore the stunning waters surrounding the resort.
  • Catch some waves at Frigates surf break.;
  • Go down to Sigatoka Sand Dunes and see where the Fijian Olympic winning rugby team trained;
  • Try white water rafting in the Namosi Highlands;
  • Join a food safari where you can catch local mud crabs and cook them up;
  • Go boar hunting in the jungle – a unique experience you can’t do anywhere else; or
  • Choose to do nothing at all in the beautiful surrounds of the resort.

Perfect for kids of all ages.

Perfect for the whole family

Nanuku is great for kids too. We popped our heads into the Kid’s Club and it looked like so much fun. It was crammed with great things for little ones to do including arts, crafts and cultural activities.  Older kids aren’t overlooked either and are encouraged to take advantage of all the adventures on offer with their Fijian buddy.  We saw families playing volleyball, a dad and son coming back from a surf trip, and teenage girls hanging by the pool quietly chatting.   Everyone seemed happy.

A complimentary overnight nanny service is available giving parents the convenience of being able to enjoy long dinners without having to rush back to their villa.

The best bobo massage we’ve ever had!

A wonderful treat too for us all was spending some time in the Nanuku Spa.  The Fijian bobo massages were the best we’ve ever had! With indoor or outdoor treatment rooms, the Spa is a gorgeous place to unwind after busy days of excitement and adventure.

It was with much reluctance that we said goodbye to Nanuka and headed back to Sydney after our time in magical Fiji.  A huge thank you to the staff at Tropica Island ResortMalolo Island Resort, Likuliku Lagoon Resort and finally, Nanuku Resort Fiji. As usual, you didn’t disappoint.  You are forever in our hearts.
