Blue Lagoon Cruises, Fiji

Fiji Cruise Holidays.

Blue Lagoon Cruises offer a modern fleet and the best way to be introduced to the Islands of Fiji.

Blue Lagoon Cruises have been credited with being amongst the founders of modern-day tourism in the Fiji Islands. The company pioneered cruising through the brilliantly beautiful Yasawa Islands some 50 years ago. Today they have a modern fleet and offer the best way to be introduced to the Islands of Fiji, the culture and the people whilst enjoying the luxury of an air-conditioned motor yacht. Each cruises of varying length offers a rare insight into remote villages and glorious beaches and a glimpse of Fiji of older times with deceptions of local cultures and history. Blue Lagoon Cruise offers access to areas not available to other travelers. All meals are served either on-board or at the company’s own private island.

3 day Fiji cruise

Day 1

Bula and welcome aboard Blue Lagoon Cruises! Set sail on the Fiji Princess towards gorgeous and secluded Modriki Island. Modriki is a spectacular island in the Mamanuca Island group, which stars in the blockbuster movie “Cast Away” alongside Tom Hanks! Settle into your cabin enroute, enjoy a welcome briefing, meet fellow guests and admire the scenery from the sun deck. Cocktails are served with canapés as the sun starts to fade, perfect for meeting other passengers on your first afternoon of tranquility in the Fiji Islands.
Dinner tonight is an a la carte Captain’s Dinner, served in the dining saloon. Our talented singing, dancing and guitar playing crew provide entertainment as you enjoy a delicious meal and a relaxing evening.

 Day 2

Awake to the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and breakfast underway. Enjoy an early morning snorkel, swim or wander along the stunning white sands at Modriki Island before we set sail for the southern Yasawa Islands.

Late morning, you’ll be treated to an adventure Fijian style: swimming with the sharks!

At a secret reef location, the brave can don snorkel gears and take a swim with the gentle reef sharks. Alternatively, cruise aboard our glass bottom boat to view the reef and its remarkable marine life.

After lunch, visit the chiefly village of Soso to learn about village life and meet the beautiful children. You’ll be welcomed in traditional fashion with a kava ceremony, before being shown through the village. Late afternoon there will be a presentation on the local history and legends, giving an insight into early Yasawan life. Snorkelling, diving* or kayaking is also available, alongside a sport fishing trip* for any game fishing enthusiasts.

Back on Fiji Princess, ease into the evening with cocktails, followed by a ‘Thali’ buffet dinner featuring exquisite Indian dishes. Help yourself to the fancy dress box and enjoy some ‘Bollywood Dancing’ after dinner on the upper deck, complete with Bollywood movies on the big screen.

 Day 3

Sunday in Fiji is respected as a day of rest and we follow suit with a relaxed morning and a special opportunity to attend a village church service if you wish. The atmosphere and beautiful singing from the locals will make you smile ear to ear.

Lunch is served onboard as we cruise a short distance to our next slice of paradise. Take part in a Fijian cooking lesson and prepare a classic Fijian dish, Kokoda (pronounced “ko-kohn-dah”). Or try your hand at a traditional Fijian craft such as basket weaving.

We anchor early afternoon in the sheltered waters at Naukacuva and Narara Islands. Both islands are covered in dense, lush forest, extending to pristine white sandy beaches beneath. Sunbathe on Fiji Princess or dive into the waters and discover an underwater wonderland. Snorkel your heart’s content or cruise around in the glass bottom boat, viewing amazing corals and staying dry. If you’d like to dive, this can be arranged for you (extra cost). There are many awesome dive sites around!

Tonight’s buffet dinner boasts a range of traditional dishes from Fiji and a choice of European dishes too. Bingo will be held in the dining room with lots of laughs and some good prizes! Of course you can always head to the upper deck for a quiet drink or two.

After departing Denarau, enjoy a relaxing cruise through the Mamanucas to meet Fiji Princess in the Sacred Islands. Bula and welcome aboard! Check into your cabin, meet your crew and fellow passengers and enjoy a tasty lunch.
The Sacred Islands are breathtaking and the rest of your day is spent enjoying these idyllic tropical islands, with no one else in sight. It’s up to you how you want to spend your time – enjoy a swim, wander the beaches, kayak in the lagoon and enjoy your surrounds. Learn the art of Fiji High Tea this afternoon and make roti in lolo to enjoy with lemon tea – yum.
Back on-board it’s happy hour at the bar, cocktails, cold beers and wines on the upper deck – win your cocktails in a fun coconut bowls competition! Dinner tonight is an a la carte Captain’s Dinner, served in the dining saloon. Our talented singing, dancing and guitar playing crew provide entertainment as you enjoy a delicious meal and a relaxing evening.

 Day 2

Laze on the sun deck, as we cruise past several of the larger Yasawa Islands this morning or perhaps take an indulgent visit to the onboard beauty spa. Our destination is the amazing Blue Lagoon region: a large stretch of water, ringed by beautiful islands and crystal clear waters.
Nanuya Lailai in the Blue Lagoon region is home to Blue Lagoon Cruises very own private beach. Watch as the crew navigates Fiji Princess up to the beach and anchors to a coconut tree! Lunch is served onboard, before we head ashore for a ‘Fiji style beach club’ complete with sun loungers, onshore massage, a bar and beach volleyball. Swim, snorkel, feed the fish, and view colourful corals from the glass bottom boat. Fix your eyes on a coconut demonstration and learn how to climb the palm, gather coconuts, husk them and appreciate fresh coconut milk for afternoon tea. Delicious!
Diving* for both novices and experienced divers can be pre-booked and there are many awesome dive sites within easy reach. We also offer a number of guided ‘reef safari’ snorkeling tours to show you the best spots around Nanuya Lailai.
Happy hour is served at the onshore beach bar and tonight is a very special night with a traditional Lovo meal. A delicious array of Fijian food cooked underground in an earth oven. Watch the unearthing of the feast and enjoy dining on the beach, under the coconut palms and blanket of stars. Following dinner is a fantastic meke with singing, dancing and story telling by a group of local villagers, come to share their company with Blue Lagoon guests.

 Day 3

The crystal clear waters will no doubt tempt you to head ashore for a swim or paddle a kayak in the surrounding sea. Sit down to an a’ la carte breakfast, cooked to your liking along with the buffet of fresh tropical fruits, yogurts, cereals, fruit juices, tea and coffee.
Most of the day can be spent at leisure on Blue Lagoon Cruises’ private beach. Laze around or take part in any of these great activities:

  • An easy, guided walk along the beach and over the hill to the other side of the island. Enjoy views across the Blue Lagoon, village gardens, and local island residences before arriving at Lo’s Tea Shop on the beach. Enjoy Lo’s famous cakes and browse the shell market. A water taxi whisks you back to the vessel.
  • Basket weaving – make your own!
  • A Fijian woodcarver will show you how to carve your own kava bowl.
  • Diving* for experienced and first time divers.
  • A guided ‘Reef Safari’ snorkelling trip to four sites in the lagoon, each one featuring different and unique corals. Don’t miss the giant cabbage!

A delicious buffet lunch is served in the dining bure onshore before Fiji Princess heads North to our next destination, the mystical island of Sawa-I-Lau. On arrival we set off on a private guided visit to the Sawa-i-Lau caves; located in a pretty bay hugging the southern point of Yasawa Island. There are 3 caves and the main chamber of the Sawa-i-Lau cave is 15m high with limestone pillars and natural sunlight streaming in from above. A short swim through an underwater passage takes you into the second of these stunning limestone caves – it’s well worth it!
When the evening rolls around we’ll visit the village of Tamusua. A yaqona ceremony, guided walk and village style ‘feast’ is prepared and cooked by the village women. The best thing about it is, the feast is not tailored for visitors, it’s exactly as the villagers have for special occasions. Served outside, you get to be Fijian for the night and fully immerse yourself in Fijian way of life, sitting on mats, eating village food and sharing stories with the villagers about their culture and home. Today is all being a local and seeing the real Fiji, an experience unique to Blue Lagoon Cruises.

 Day 4

Fiji Princess heads out of the bay, towards Drawaqa Island where our Marine Biologist will introduce you to the world beneath the water line. Visibility is unbelievable, the water is warm and over 300 species of coral and 1,200 species of reef fish can be found in the waters around Fiji. Dramatic underwater topography and remarkable biodiversity is abundant and snorkelling is a-plenty. From May to October, large manta rays migrate through the turquoise channel between Drawaqa and Naviti, making snorkelling an even more spectacular experience!
Our crew know all the best spots, snorkelling equipment is provided and if you’d rather stay dry, you can head out exploring on the glass bottom boat.
