Where to First when the Borders Finally Open?

Malolo Island Resort Fiji

There is sure to be a rush on travel when our borders finally open.   For all our Fiji friends we thought it might be a good idea to refresh your memories of the resorts we have all grown to love over the years, and been unable to visit.     In this fortnightly blog we will focus on one resort.  If your favourite doesn’t pop up this week keep reading as it may the following fortnight.

We will look at Adults Only resorts, Ultra Luxury, Family Friendly and those that combine it all.  We will go far afield to those areas you have always wanted to go, but didn’t, and we will even maybe reveal a new favourite for you.

We haven’t travelled for so long – don’t spend your holiday savings on buying a new car, keep saving and instead of one big visit to Fiji this coming year, take two – or better still consider a multi generational visit.     Grab the grandparents, siblings, cousins and babies.  Fiji is waiting for you all.

To kick off our first week we thought that we would focus on an all time favourite family resort.    The children have had a tough time too – whilst of course home schooling has taken a lot of energy for the parents, the children have missed out on a lot of that really important socialisation and learning.  What better way to get them back into the swing of things than a visit to Malolo Island Resort Fiji.

So Many Unique Features at Malolo Island Resort
Malolo Island Resort Fiji is one of our favourite family-friendly resorts.

A unique feature of Malolo Island Fiji is its Tia’s Treehouse.  Here’s your education, learning and socialisation all in one amazing place.    If you are aged between 4 and 12 this is the place to be.  Tia’s Treehouse is designed to be all of the above.  Set under an enormous mango tree, with indoor and outdoor nooks, Tia’s Treehouse is staffed by friendly Fijians whose delighted faces when your little ones arrive are genuine and welcoming.

The Yanu Yanu programme has been designed to focus on a different theme over a seven day period.     The marine environment, the Fijian Culture, coconut trees and how they are used in the village, herbal medicines, endangered species, Fijian cooking and art, Fijian Language and costume making.  Children will even learn the art of traditional dance and perform at the resorts Meke night once a week.   This is a delightful evening and one the children will remember for years to come.

Teenagers are not forgotten.  If they are not out on the beach playing rugby or volleyball with the team from the activities bure, then perhaps you will find them in the Khail’s Club.  Khail’s Club is located in the main building, just up from the adults only lounge and is for teenagers only.  It has all  the things they need – including ever important wifi!

Malolo combines family friendly with peaceful adult time remarkably well for such a small island and resort.   Talei Lounge is a welcoming haven to exchange your books, watch a rugby game, if you just can’t miss it, or simply enjoy some air conditioned space to use the free wifi and update your social media.

Whilst the boys are watching a day time match, the kids are in  Tia’s Treehouse and teenagers in Khail’s Club take the chance to visit Leilani’s Spa.  With a beautiful rainforest setting and three treatment rooms Leilani’s uses Pure Fiji products so you drift away in tropical bliss.  There is a couples room too, so enjoy all of this with your partner as well.

Dining, Relaxing, being Adventurous.

Why Malolo is truly one of our Favourites.

Dine together or dine in adult sophistication.

Gather together as a family at meal times in the resorts choice of restaurants.    The Terrace is set high above the resort and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner for fun family times.     Or choose lunch at the Beach Bar and it doesn’t matter if the kids want to keep playing – they can be on the sand or in the water until their burger or pizza is made.  Happy Hour at the Beach Bar is always a hit – and can be enjoyed whilst the kids are having kids dinner at The Terrace, or let them sip a lemonade and listen to the band as the sun sets.

If the kids really don’t want to miss the evening activities at Tia’s,  dinner can be enjoyed at Malolo’s signature restaurant, Treetops.    Set on the verandah, at the other end of the main dining bure to the busy Terrace,  Treetops is a stunning, slightly more formal dining experience.  Treetops is open for guests 13+.  With an a la carte menu and chef specials , Treetops features Pacific Rim cuisine and an ambience that will ease you into an evening of absolute delight.

The resort features an adults only pool and terrace as well as a family pool – but don’t spend your whole time at the pool    There is so much to discover in the beautiful Mamanuca Island chain.  Talk with the team at the Activities bure down by the water and you will find a raft of things to do on land and on the sea.   Diving, snorkelling, hiking, a private island picnic on nearby Mociu Island amongst them.

We hope this has given you a little something to look forward to.  Why is Malolo one of our favourites?  Well all of the above, of course, but also because it’s a Fijian family owned resort that never fails to care for its guests and its staff.   You will be delighted from the moment you step on to the wharf and will long to return from the moment you leave.

Log on in two weeks time for our next resort spotlight in our “Where to Next” series.
