More island time, less transit stress
We arranged direct Sea Fiji fast boat transfers from Port Denarau straight to the island.
No overnight mainland stay. No early-morning rush. Just arrive, unpack, exhale, and enjoy sunset drinks on your first night.
For families travelling with children and grandparents, this seamless arrival makes all the difference.
Relaxed dining for every generation
The family enjoyed a full board meal plan, including daily buffet breakfast, lunch, and either buffet or à la carte dinner each evening.
Fresh seafood, international favourites, and island flavours feature heavily, with produce grown on the resort and daily fisherman offerings when available.
A standout favourite? Seafood tacos at Nuku Marau by the Kids Pool — charred lemon pepper catch of the day with pico de gallo, guacamole and sriracha mayo. A lunchtime ritual by day two.
The flexibility to choose à la carte dining when the buffet felt like too much made meals relaxed, social, and pressure-free, ideal for multigenerational groups.
Simple island joy and confident young snorkellers
One of Castaway’s greatest strengths is how effortless it is to enjoy the reef. Guests can walk straight off the beach and snorkel over vibrant coral gardens; no boat required.
The kids grew so confident that some of the older grandchildren even tried night snorkelling. A little confronting at first, but incredibly memorable.

Modriki Island and the Sandbar
The family enjoyed a private boat trip to Modriki Island (pronounced Monuriki), famously the filming location for Cast Away.
White sand, turquoise water and dramatic scenery made it a highlight of the trip.
From there, they continued to a nearby sandbar, where shallow crystal-clear water and abundant marine life created one of the most memorable snorkelling experiences of the holiday.

A private beachfront enclave
Thanks to our long-standing relationship with the resort, we were able to request accommodation that placed the family together in beautifully positioned beachfront bures at the quieter northern end of the beach.
Three bures directly on the sand, with one just behind, created a private enclave, perfect for large families wanting space, privacy, and togetherness.
Castaway’s bures strike a rare balance between authenticity and comfort. Thatched roofs, open layouts, cooling sea breezes, luxurious linen and spacious bathrooms make them the perfect place to return to after days filled with salt water and sandy feet.
A 50th birthday, island-style
One of the most special moments of the trip was celebrating Clayton’s 50th birthday on the island.
Cake, singing, warm Castaway hospitality, and the entire family together to mark a milestone in the most meaningful way possible. These are the moments that transform a holiday into a lifelong memory.
