An unforgettable family group holiday in Fiji to celebrate a milestone birthday.

This family group holiday itinerary, staying at the luxury Nanuku Resort in Fiji’s Pacific Harbour region (on the main island of the Viti Levu), was curated by our Fiji specialists for the Mason family to celebrate the milestone 70th birthday of the family patriarch, Mr Mason.

From Australia, our team collaborated with the staff at Nanuku Resort to create a once-in-a-lifetime itinerary that would become one of the family’s most cherished times spent together.

Reset to “Fiji Time”

A friendly “Bula” arrival and reset to “Fiji Time”.

Nanuku Resort is widely known for its strong cultural values.

In June 2025, escaping a cold and rainy Sydney winter, the Masons set off for the the warmth of the tropics. We arranged for the entire family to travel together, ensuring the celebrations began the moment they arrived at Sydney Airport. Upon landing at Nadi Airport, they were greeted by our representative and whisked away by private transport to the luxury Nanuku Resort Fiji.

Nanuku, a five-star tropical oasis, sits on a 500-acre private estate on the island of Viti Levu. It’s perfectly positioned near Pacific Harbour, the adventure capital of Fiji, a region renowned for it’s amazing diving spots, world-famous surf breaks, game fishing, white water rafting, shark diving experiences, to name but a few…

Nanuku Resort is widely known for its strong cultural values and is frequently chosen by Tourism Fiji to showcase these traditions to visiting dignitaries.  So, upon arriving at the resort, the Masons received a traditional warrior welcome, with a personal greeting by the Chief, to the sound of the beating Lali drum.

Side note: Anyone lucky enough to experience a traditional Fijian greeting knows it sets the hairs on your arms on end with its warmth and passion.

Private Beachfront Villas with personal plunge pool

Private Beachfront Villas with personal plunge pools.

Luxury accommodation, fine dining and personalised service.

The beachfront accommodation at Nanuku Resort represented “barefoot luxury” at its best. Think luxury villas, fine dining, and personalised service, but in a setting where you can walk around barefoot without compromise.

To accommodate the 18 members of the group (Mr and Mrs Mason plus four families), we arranged five villas side by side along Nanuku’s spectacular beachfront. This setup gave each family the privacy of their own space while keeping them close enough to easily gather together with a simple stroll between villas.

Just a few steps from the water’s edge, the ultra-modern beachfront villas feature large living areas and stylish furnishings.  They are private yet convenience located to the Clubhouse, main dining area, and the many resort facilities catering for guests of all ages.

Each morning, the sunrise over the turquoise waters of Beqa Lagoon greeted the Masons.

Celebrating life’s important events with family and friends

A celebration worth savouring with all meals included.

The resort offers a variety of dining experiences.

A full meal plan for each guest was included in the itinerary so the family could relax and enjoy the Pacific Rim cuisine made from the freshest, locally sourced ingredients (including freshly caught fish from village fishermen).

The resort offers a variety of dining experiences. Each afternoon, the family gathered at Wai Pool Bar, where they would wind down with a pre-dinner cocktail and watch the sun set. At Kanavata Restaurant and Lounge, guest enjoy Pacific Rim cuisine showcasing the freshest local seafood, tropical produce, and vibrant Fijian flavours. One of the highlights is always an unforgettable dinner high in the branches of a 70-year-old Dilo tree, where the suspended dining platform created a magical setting unlike any other. On quieter evenings, the Masons could retreat to the comfort of their villas for private dining, with a personal chef crafting meals tailored perfectly to their tastes.

Every day brought little luxuries including freshly brewed French press coffee, complimentary non-alcoholic beverages, afternoon tea and sunset canapés by the pool. At night, cookies were placed on their pillows, a sweet finishing touch to the day. And of course, kids always love the air popcorn maker in each villa.

Coral planting with the resort’s resident Marine Biologist

The children weren’t forgotten or an after thought.

At the end of the holiday, the children didn’t want to leavel their Village Mamas.

The Mason family group included seven children ranging from 12 years down to an infant.

At Nanuku, all children under 8 were cared for by a dedicated Nanny (Villa Mama) from 8am – 6pm, with extended hours available in the evening if the adults wanted time to themselves.

Daily activities kept the little ones entertained with sensory play, games, and crafts, while kids over 8 joined the Lailai Kids’ Adventure Club with their assigned ‘buddy’.

The tech-free Kids’ Club encouraged children to connect with nature. The children took part in coral planting with the resort’s marine biologist, Fijian culture dress-ups, botanical garden tours, and prawning — experiences unlike anything at home.

We were told that, by the end of the holiday, the children had grown so attached to their Villa Mamas that many wished they could stay forever.

Wellness treatments under the dilo tree

Relaxation and rejuvenation for the adults.

With the kids entertained, the adults enjoyed some R & R.

While the children were entertained, the adults could enjoy some well deserved R & R at Nanuku’s spa and wellness centre.

The spa combined ancient Fijian massage traditions with indigenous minerals, botanicals, and essential oils to nourish and restore. Treatments take place in private spa suites or on an open-air platform high in the branches of a 70-year-old dilo tree, where the soothing sounds of waves below set the perfect backdrop.

Daily yoga, fitness classes, and a fully equipped 24/7 gym add to the resort’s wellness options.
