Shangri La and Hilton Fiji Travel Reviews
Sandra, our intrepid destination and wedding specialist has just returned from a six day insight tour where she visited 16 beautiful resorts dotted throughout the Fiji Islands. We’re super excited to share her feedback and will release a series of separate articles over the coming weeks highlighting her travels.
With the Christmas holidays and peak Fiji wedding season fast approaching, we thought it would be poignant to first concentrate on multi-generation and group holidays. Two resorts that impressed Sandra most were the Shangri-La Fijian Resort on the Coral Coast and the Hilton Fiji Beach Resort at Denarau, both of which are perfect for group getaways.
Shangri-La Fijian Resort
Located on the beautiful Coral Coast, the Shangri-La Fiji is a 45 minute drive from Nadi Airport (faster via helicopter).
The Shangri-La is the size of a small village and features 6 restaurants, 2 bars, Chi spa, Kids’ Club, a shopping arcade, gift shop and so much more… you’ll never have to leave as it’s all right here. It’s also the perfect base to explore the Coral Coast and beyond.
We’re excited to announce that the resort is in the final stage of a complete refurbishment and, as Sandra excitedly reported to us, the results are spectacular!
Every care has been taken throughout the renovation to minimise disruption to guests with works being completed in stages. In fact, most guests would have had no idea of the scale of the project it’s been so carefully managed.
Works completed thus far include a stylish, modernisation of all accommodation categories plus the guest facilities including dining areas, the Kids’ Club and wedding chapel.
In keeping with a lot of Fiji resorts, the Shangri-La has nearly finished a new adults-only sanctuary. Located at the very far end of the resort, this area will be exclusively adults only and include accommodation, dining options and tranquil pool area. This should be complete in January 2019.
Based on what Sandra saw, the refurbished Shangri-La Fijian Resort is well and truly open for business.
One of the resort’s main attractions has always been it’s beautiful beach. Set on a lovely, blue lagoon it’s great for swimming, snorkelling and all the water sports you can imagine. For little ones the beach is perfect for shallow paddling and discovering.
There is also a wonderful children’s pool plus an inflatable water park anchored in the lagoon – not just for the kids!
If you’re planning a family getaway or group holiday to Fiji, we recommend you make the Shangri-La one of your top picks. This resort really has something for everyone and, with the refurbishment and addition of the adults-only area, guests will want for nothing as it’s all right there.
What Sandra loved about the Shangri-La Fijian Resort
- Newly renovated spacious and modern accommodation.
- Beautiful beach with crystal clear water.
- Great food. Expansive buffet breakfast.
- Awesome kids’ area with plenty of overhead shade cloth so families can stay and play all day long.
- Beautiful wedding chapel.
- Plenty to keep guests busy within the resort
- Convenient location to explore the surrounding area.
Hilton Fiji Beach Resort
The Hilton Fiji Beach Resort and Spa is conveniently located at Denarau, a short 20 minute drive from Nadi Airport, which means you’ll be settled in and enjoying your holiday faster.
Only a 15-20 minute stroll to the Port Denarau (or you may choose to catch the shuttle bus), it’s the launching point for travel to the outer islands and offers a myriad of daily snorkelling and dive tours. It is also where you’ll find the largest single collection of quality shopping and dining in Fiji plus the world class Denarau Golf and Racquet Club.
The range of accommodation at the Hilton is varied and well appointed. Most impressive were the one, two and three bedroom self contained villas, all with full kitchen and laundry facilities. For large families and groups travelling together, the villas are practical and offer all the conveniences of home. Close proximity to the supermarket at Denarau and the local markets at Nadi, make self sufficiency a breeze.
Koro, the new adults-only complex, has created a whole new offering for those who seek sanctuary from younger guests. With pretty ocean views, there are two beachfront pools (with daybeds and loungers for relaxing) and all day dining options. Koro is a great place to socialise with an extensive wine and champagne selection plus live entertainment nightly.
What Sandra loved about the Hilton Fiji Beach Resort
- A range of accommodation to suit everyone’s requirements.
- The self contained villas are a unique alternative offering guests freedom and flexibility.
- Koro is a stylish sanctuary just for grown-ups.
- Close proximity to the airport makes it perfect for short stays or as a launching point for an outer island stay.
- Lots to see and do just outside of the resort.
