Nanuku Fiji Travel Review

Bula and welcome to the second in our Where to Next series.  Last time we reintroduced you to Malolo Island Resort which is a family favourite.  Click here to read again.
This week let’s move onto the mainland and down to the Pacific Harbour region.   In this area of pristine beauty, on the edge of Beqa Lagoon, close enough to Suva for a day trip, the famous Frigates surf break and the highlands for some adventuring, you will find the spectacular Nanuku Resort Fiji (formerly Nanuku Auberge Resort).
You will have guessed from the above list that at Nanuku you can pretty much do anything – and we will talk about that soon.  For now though – let’s discover this beautiful five star, family friendly, unique and luxurious resort.

Nanuku is worth discovering.

Set amongst lush tropical gardens with not just a  magnificent house reef but a  3km stretch of sandy all tide swimming beach, Nanuku is a resort worth discovering.  Designed to be ideal for couples, families and multi generational get togethers,  Nanuku is about luxury, culture and adventure.  Small enough to be intimate and inviting, large enough to accommodate you all.

The accommodation is luxurious, spacious and light filled.

When you stay at Nanuku you will choose from an array of luxury villas – either beachfront, perched on the edge of the house reef, set in the lush gardens, or even a grand residence on the hill.   From one to four bedrooms these villas are delightful.  Nanuku’s Auberge Villas are the newest addition to the resort.  Placed in either the garden or beachfront, each of these villas features private pool areas and stunning views across Beqa Lagoon.    All Villas are designed to reflect Fijian style, with all the amenities you would imagine in a five-star resort.   Luxurious, spacious and light-filled.

Most resorts in Fiji will greet you with a big Bula and welcome.  At Nanuku you will be treated as a Chief is welcomed into his village.  This unique and wonderful cultural welcome will leave you with goosebumps.    Walk with your warrior escort through the main resort towards the sound of the traditional Lali drum.  Your arrival will then be signalled by the blowing of the Davui shell.  A haunting and moving welcome.

You will then be introduced to your Nanuku buddy.    Forget a printed-out activities sheet – your buddy is it!   A living, breathing activities manual that will greet you at breakfast full of enthusiasm for what’s on for the day.  He’ll answer your questions, point you in the right direction, and guide you to the secrets of Nanuku.    It might be a Bilibili raft ride through the mangrove forests, moonlight prawning, a food safari to Suva returning to the Nanuku kitchen to create a meal with traditional ingredients,  a sunset cruise or a snorkel in Beqa Lagoon.  Nanuku includes a number of complimentary activities for you.     If you can’t find it simply ask your buddy and if it’s not something they have done before, you are pretty much guaranteed they will find a way to do it.

Kids are at the heart of Fijian culture.

Kids are at the heart of Fijian culture and in the hearts of the Fijian people.    At Nanuku every child under the age of 8 is blessed with their own nanny.  Imagine that?   Older kids have buddies, and the adventures are endless.  Highlights are not just the water sports and beach activities, but a kids-only Kava ceremony (with fresh chocolate milk), camping under the stars, moonlight cinema and coral planting with the resort’s resident marine biologist.  Take the kids out of school – their education will blossom at Nanuku!

The inclusions at Nanuku are generous  – including a la carte breakfast with coffee, 20 in-house activities, nannies, selected non-alcoholic beverages, scheduled yoga and wellness classes and more.  You can add a meal plan if you wish, so all your meals are covered – then it’s just any additional activities and drinks that need to be considered.    A must is a visit to the Nanuku Spa where all treatments are inspired by Fiji’s rich healing tradition.

Whatever you do don’t miss a visit to Nanuku’s private island for a stunning day trip.   Ask the kitchen to pack you a picnic and a bottle of bubbles.  You can even camp over here if you would like  – this is a wonderful adventure for the whole family.

Why we love Nanuku Resort Fiji

Why do we love Nanuku Resort Fiji?   It’s not hard to see, when reading the above that at Nanuku you can do a lot, and your stay is in beautiful, luxurious villas.   More than that we love that this resort has a cultural soul that runs throughout it.    Nanuku’s staff are genuine and kind, they are chiefly welcome not just for show, and their love of those guests who have chosen to visit is on display all the time.    And we didn’t even mention the food……!!  Imagine this genuine welcome when it’s been so long between visits? Where to next?  Well, Nanuku of course.
