Sofitel Fiji Travel Review
The Sofitel Fiji is located on Denarau Island, only 20 minutes from Nadi Airport. This resort is in a great spot! It’s adjacent to world class Denarau Golf and Racquet Club and only a 15-20 minute stroll to the Port of Denarau (or you may choose to catch the Bula Bus shuttle) where you’ll find the largest collection of quality shopping and dining in Fiji. Denarau Port is also the launching point for travel to the outer islands and day trips for snorkelling and diving.
“I regularly recommend the Sofitel to people who don’t want a long commute from the airport to their hotel – particularly families with young children or people booking a short Fiji getaway. As soon as you step foot in the Sofitel you know you’re in a beautiful, tropical Fijian resort yet you haven’t had to travel far from the airport. It’s very convenient in that respect.” – Kelly.
The Sofitel has a vibrant, village feel
The Sofitel has a vibrant village feel about it. It’s a large resort offering five star luxury with an elegant French touch. With a picturesque beachfront location and set amongst beautiful tropical landscaped gardens, you’re really spoilt for choice as to where to swim, eat and relax. We were there at a popular time of year (the lead up to Christmas) so the resort was busy and close to full capacity. This being the case we still found the resort had a relaxed holiday vibe and we didn’t feel overcrowded. There was always room around the pool, at the restaurants or on the beach.
The Sofitel offers a very good mix of fine and casual dining, bars and cafes throughout the resort. We suggest Salt Restaurant which is the ultimate in alfresco dining. It’s water’s edge location, between the swimming pool and the beach, is perfect place for snack, drink or meal at any time of day or night.
We were treated to a decadent private dining experience.
During our stay, we were treated to a decadent private dining experience on a perfect, balmy evening of clear skies and postcard-perfect sunset. We indulged in a feast of food and drank a few too many cocktails. We were even serenaded by Kulture Band, Fiji’s number 1 professional entertainment group (click here to listen to Kulture Band singing Ed Sheeran’s Thinking of You). Feeling a little tipsy, we laughed that it was one of the most romantic experiences we had enjoyed with work colleagues!
“Kulture Band were AMAZING! What a talented group of musos. They have such a diverse repertoire and were so much fun!” – Mike.
The newly opened Waitui Beach Club is beautiful.
We were all eagerly anticipating checking out the newly opened Waitui Beach Club – and we weren’t disappointed! Waitui, meaning ‘salt’ in Fijian, is a modern, adults only multi-million dollar leisure concept featuring its own pool, champagne bar, restaurant and poolside cabanas. There are also 74 designated Beach Club rooms which can be hired for private use. Private cabanas, a ‘world bar’, and guaranteed pool seating are on offer exclusively for Waitui Beach Club guests, while at night, the setting of the sun brings subtle lighting and a change of mood, with frequent live entertainment on offer. Guests can also enjoy a swim up pool bar.
“I loved hanging out in the Waitui Beach Club. As a group we could sit separate and not disturb other guests. It felt like we were having our own private party. It was great to have the choice of a child-free place to relax too.” – Kerry.
The Sofitel Fiji has something for everyone.
The Sofitel Resort & Spa offers something for everyone. The non-stop choice of activities, family friendly pools and Turtle Kids Club make it a perfect choice for families. It’s proximity to Denarau shopping and entertainment precinct and world class Golf and Raquet Club make it a good choice for people who like to experience more than just the inside of their resort. The addition of the Waitui Beach Club is the perfect solution for adults seeking a child-free environment yet want close proximity to the airport. If you would like advice as to whether the Sofitel would suit your travel requirements, please don’t hesitate to contact our team – we’re more than happy to reminisce about our time there.
