When your children reach 12 years of age and are classified as adults by many resorts, your holiday suddenly becomes very expensive. VOMO Island Fiji now has a unique offering that overcomes this enabling you to continue travelling together as a family without the added expense.
VOMO revises child age from 12 to 16
Families whose children have reached “adult” age (i.e. 12 years and over) in terms of airfares and accommodation may feel the pinch when the kids beg to return to their favourite resort – particularly if it’s your favourite five star resort. Before your children turned 12 you could all fit in one villa however, after that, there may be the requirement to book a second villa or bure due to the resorts’ rules.
Recognising this restriction on families, one of our favourite luxury resorts VOMO Island Fiji, has just announced a change in their child policy.
Providing a wider range of options for families, VOMO has moved the child age from 12 to up to 16 years and under – effective immediately!
This means if you are happy to share a villa, as a family of four, with two children under 16 years of age you can stay in a Beachfront Villa, a Hillside Villa or a Beachfront Haven. If you have three children under 16 years of age, you can book the beautiful Beachfront Retreat with the luxury of a super indulgent outdoor bathing deck. The only extra you are required to pay is the additional person fee – which covers all food at Vomo’s glorious restaurants.
Take advantage of VOMO’s interconnecting villas
Even better for families, Vomo is in a unique position where they will guarantee families or groups travelling together interconnecting villas when booking a Beachfront Villa or Beachfront retreat. Not many resorts can do that. The interconnecting villas give larger families the space to move but still have the kids close by.
VOMO’s new adults-only retreat and relaxation area
VOMO is not just for families. If you are a couple travelling together, or if your children have taken themselves off to play golf, are exploring with the Ocean Play team, or settled into some fun on the tennis court, VOMO has just opened their very special Rocks Pool.
With one of the most photographed views in Fiji, VOMO’s Rocks Bar and Restaurant has always been a peaceful haven for adults to enjoy evening cocktails as the sun sets. Twice a week The Rocks hosts dinner with impressive share plates of Pan Asian rim cuisine. A thoughtful and spectacular addition to this area, only opening a few weeks ago, is VOMO’s Rocks Pool and Relaxation Area. Adjacent to the Rocks Bar and Restaurant, on the western tip of VOMO secluded from the main resort, the adults-only relaxation area and pool features designer day beds, submerged pool seating and sun loungers with umbrellas offering plenty of shade.
This chic space has been built using natural, green stone tiles and covers an expansive 25 x 13 metre footprint.
The pool blends seamlessly with the sea on the horizon and the lush tropical surroundings. The area has been architecturally designed to create tiered platforms with a holistic design for adults-only indulgence.
Without doubt you could spend all day in the peaceful ambience of this lovely new area.
VOMO’s Hawksbill turtle hatchlings
It’s been a big celebratory time for VOMO in this last week or so.
The Hawksbill turtle is a local, endangered species. A significant number of hatchlings do not successfully make the difficult journey from their nests to the sea. Once in the ocean, the quest to survive remains perilous until they become fully grown.
Recently the team at VOMO found a Hawksbill nest under the trees close to the beachfront villas. They protected the nest until 130 baby turtles hatched safely. Watching closely, the team waited for the outgoing tide and released these tiny turtles into the waters – ready to embark on their journey through life. What a wonderful experience for guests on the island at the time.
Snorkel the waters of VOMO and you could be lucky enough to see older Hawksbills and even one of these tiny little hatchlings.
The Fiji Islands have 5 of the 7 living species of turtles in their waters, a testament to the protections that have been put in place and the dedication of teams like the VOMO staff, for these gorgeous marine creatures.
