Yasawa Island Resort Fiji travel special 2019 / 2020.
Fiji is a country of myriad beauty – lush jungles, volcanic highlands, waterfalls that begin from a mountaintop lake and flow through three or four lakes to reach the bottom, spectacular reefs that can be explored from shell-covered beaches, and picture-perfect lagoons, white sandy beaches, colourful marine life, secret caves.
You can travel from North to South to experience a little bit of each of these contrasts – or you can travel to just one luxurious island in the Yasawa islands and have all of this in just one holiday.
Yasawa Island Resort is located at the very top of the stunning Yasawa Island Group – known as one of the driest and sunniest in Fiji. This group is a collection of volcanic peaks, white sandy beaches, crystal clear lagoons and limited resorts and accommodation options. Originally known as a backpacking area, or only accessible via short, small cruising options, the Yasawas has developed over the years to become one of Fiji’s premier tourism areas.
An exclusive destination where you can totally switch off
Enjoy an indulgent, all-inclusive experience
Combine all of that with the fact that Yasawa is an all-inclusive resort – everything, except alcoholic beverages, when you stay at Yasawa is included. This is not so common in Fiji – all your activities including things like a half day trip to the famous Blue Lagoon Caves, guided snorkelling trips, guided village visits, kayaking, paddleboards, catamarans, tennis.
Dining at Yasawa is no standard thing. Inclusive means your morning Espresso, cappuccino or flat white coffee and non-alcoholic drinks such as freshly squeezed juices, mocktails, bottled waters. It means breakfast, lunch and dinner, a la carte and chosen from daily changing menus that feature local and international ingredients. Watch the local fishermen deliver that days catch and enjoy it that evening. Dine in the central dining pavilion, have dinner in your bure, ask for a beach set up for just the two of you, indulge in a degustation lovo which is a modern take on the traditional way of dining in Fiji or do what I did and enjoy a Mongolian BBQ under the trees on the beachfront with the other guests. It’s all possible.
Imagine lunch on a private beach with a handpicked picnic basket
Lunches can be a very special adventure and again, all included. Yasawa has 11 private beaches. Every day you are able to have a picnic lunch on your own private beach –just choose your picnic and it will be prepared for you – seafood, meats, salads, add a bottle (or two) of champagne and the team will deliver you to your own private beach. You will see no one – you will truly feel that you are on a deserted island and the day is yours.
Just call on your walky-talky when you want to be picked up and your speedboat will arrive, pack everything up for you and take you back to the resort. It’s that simple – and that amazing.
As expected, your accommodation is a haven of luxury
Returning to your bure after your island picnic is yet another haven of luxury at Yasawa Island Resort .
Built with space in mind and facing some of the most beautiful sunsets in Fiji all bures are beachfront and feature an expansive deck with daybeds, separate living areas, outdoor and indoor showers and thatched beach bure on the edge of the beach. There are just 18 bures at Yasawa – ranging from a Bure Suite, Deluxe Beachfront Bure, one x two bedroom bure and the spectacular Lomalagi Honeymoon Bure positioned at the far end of the resort on one of Fiji’s best beaches. Lomalagi is a private retreat with its own horizon pool and privacy beyond any of your expectations.
This luxury, adults-only resort is only open to families at specific times of the year
For the majority of the year Yasawa Island Resort is adults- only but they open their hearts to families during specific times of the year.
During 2019 families are welcome to stay during the September / October school holidays and December / January Christmas holidays. In 2020 families will be welcome with dates yet to be confirmed.
The Deluxe Beachfront Bures and, of course, the two bedroom bure, have plenty of space for families and children will be welcomed with true Fijian love.
